S/5697 Antique Treen Early 19th Century Pressed Wood Napoleonic Snuff Box with English and French Inscriptions

A finely carved Napoleonic walnut snuff box, with a scene depicting a soldier with a child on his knee surrounded by a castle and various weaponry, having a fitted lid and the interior lined in tortoiseshell. The scene is titled, 'The Infant of the Regiment' with a further French inscription below. The whole is finely detailed with a decorative border conforming with the reverse and has an excellent colour and patination.
