S/5701 Antique Treen 19th Century Lignum Vitae String Barrel

A small and attractive three section lignum vitae circular string barrel in heart and sap wood, having a well turned and screw domed lid with a central hole for the string and stepped turnings with an angled stepped and removable screw base. It has historic chipping to the screw thread to the base and lid, however it does screw tightly. The whole has a good rich colour and patination.
