S/5760 Antique Treen Late 19th Century Swedish Bentwood Birch Food or Trinket Box

An oval birch Swedish bentwood food or trinket box, having a wood sprung fitted lid in the usual manner with a raised loop handle. The lid and body is extensively decorated with poker work decoration. The overlap join is held in place with woven cane and the base has very faint pencil inscriptions. The whole has a most pleasing rich honey colour and patination.
