S/5797 Antique Treen Late 19th Century Fruitwood Rope Twist Dated Knitting Sheath

A most unusual apple wood knitting sheath of a curved and rope twist semi circular design, with a smooth area on one side and having a curved date of 1887 and a flat panel on the other side initialled M.R. The whole has an exceptionally good colour and patination.
