S/5800 Antique Treen 19th Century Small Victorian Beech Pocket Nutcracker

A delightful small Victorian beech pocket nutcracker, having a tooth marked turn screw and an unusual turned roundel to the underside. Hazel nuts were consumed in large quantities in the 18th and 19th centuries, and these were ideal to carry with you in the pocket. They often had teeth marks on the handle, as in this instance. The whole has a medium colour and retains a patination.
