S/5806 Antique Treen Late 18th Century Walnut Riddle Board

A good late 18th century walnut riddle board, which were used in Scotland and the North of England for making oatcakes or oat bread and were scored diagonally to form squares. A similar one is illustrated in Pinto, plate 144, and a full description can be read on page 141. The whole has a good rich colour and lovely patination.
