S/5809 Antique Treen Early 19th Century Bowl Shaped Sycamore Butter Worker
An unusual shaped sycamore butter worker of a design we have not come across before, shaped like a bowl, having a central raised knob handle, all turned from the solid and having fine lathe turning rings. Butter workers were usually larger and flat, with a slightly raised circular rim and central vertical handle. They were used for working the water out of the butter in the dairy. The whole has a medium pale colour and retains a patination.
