S/5823 Antique Treen 18th Century Four Section Boxwood Spice Tower with Penwork Decoration
A most excellent cylindrical boxwood spice tower, having extensive penwork decoration. The ball finial unscrews to reveal a compartment for a nutmeg and below there are three separate sections for spices, each with a screw thread in the usual manner. The decoration depicts figures, shrubs and buildings, showing various aspects of everyday life in fine detail. The whole retains a good patination.
