S/5861 Antique Treen Lignum Vitae Snuff Pestle and Mortar of the Georgian Period

A good lignum vitae snuff pestle and mortar in heart wood of traditional design, having a turned base to the mortar. The shaped pestle has a knop end. These were held in the hand for grinding snuff. The whole has a good rich colour and patination.

Pestle length: 3.75 in. (9.5 cm.) and diameter: 0.75 in. (2 cm.)
