S/5985 Antique Treen 19th Century Cedar Wood Staved Tankard
A 19th Century cedar wood staved tankard, having a brass rim, handle and foot. The body has five bands of rope twist brass wire. The whole has a good rich colour and retains a patination. Examples are illustrated in Domestic Utensils of Wood by Owen Evan-Thomas on plate 20.
