Time Waits For No Man

21.05.2014

Time waits for no man and since the last blog at the beginning of March we have exhibited twice at the Shepton Mallet Fair and once at the Westpoint Fair, near Exeter.  A number of sales of treen were achieved including a burr birch salt and pepper flask and a well turned sycamore dish.  Amongst the furniture sales were two canterburies and a set of four mahogany dining chairs dating from the Georgian period.  At the March Shepton Mallet Fair we had an enquiry for a set of eight dining chairs.  Although we did not have a set on the stand, we had a set back in stock and after the clients viewed them a few weeks later a sale was achieved.  It is always worth enquiring as not all the stock can be displayed at a fair.

Sales from the website are increasing with homes found for items of treen such as a fine rosewood goblet and for furniture including a huang huali low table.  At this time of year visitors to Bideford increase, and amongst the sales from the gallery were a Georgian dressing mirror and a small fruitwood treen tape measure.  The gallery is open Tuesday to Saturday 9-30 to 5-00, closing for the lunch hour between 1-2 p.m.  In the summer months sometimes I am not here on Saturdays, so a telephone call is advisable.

New additions to the website are made on a weekly basis, including increasing the archive section for reference.  Amongst the furniture recently added is an unusually designed George IV work table and a Georgian night table.  A number of treen items have also been added, most recently a bird scarer now on special offer.  You may have noticed the games box added to the special offer box last week.  This is a most interesting item with such a wide choice of games included.

We shall be exhibiting at the Westpoint Fair near Exeter on the 28th-29th June and at the Shepton Mallet Fair the following weekend from the 04th till the 06th July.  As usual a good selection of furniture, treen and paintings will be on display.  We look forward to seeing you there or in the gallery should you visit Bideford.
